DAI 2.0

Originally scheduled to premiere Off-Broadway at the 14th Street Y in NYC, Iris Bahr’s funny and moving new solo work, DAI 2.0, is the sequel to her award winning solo show, DAI (enough), in which she portrayed 10 different characters in a Tel Aviv café moments before a suicide bomber enters.  DAI had a hit run Off Broadway, and a tour across the US, Canada, Europe and Latin America, including a command performance at the United Nations for over 100 ambassadors and delegates.

DAI 2.0 follows up with the aftermath of the bombing fifteen years later, as a reporter who survived the original bombing returns to interview a wide range of family members of the victims. With humor and pathos, the show explores the current state of the conflict and Israeli society: both its lovers and its critics, delving into the plight of the Palestinians, modern Anti-Semitism in Germany and the plight of Holocaust Survivors in Israel today, and more. In this new evolution into Live Streaming, DAI 2.0 includes both filmed and live elements created over the last 6 months during quarantine. Ms. Bahr has re-examined the text through the lens of the state of the world, updating the script to respond to the current moment.

Director Jessica Hanna says, “When the premiere and run in New York were canceled due to the pandemic, Iris and I sat down and said, how do we translate this work into a new medium. What are the ways that we can bring the elements that were so funny and moving with us into a smaller screen and how can Iris perform it safely? We were very lucky to be able to team up with _Outpost_13, who added their skills & knowledge in film and live streaming to support the new ways we are telling this story. The fact that everything you see will have been captured, on film and zoom, phones, cameras and laptops without Iris leaving her home is indicative of the ways creativity will not be stopped by the pandemic!”
