 MICHAEL FEINSTEIN! LIZA MINNELLI!
STORM LARGE! JOEL GREY! BROADWAY!

No one can argue that Michael Feinstein—charismatic, appealing, boyish, excited, and eager to please—has singlehandedly reinvigorated the American Songbook for the 21st century, but this beguiling raconteur is also a consummate showman who is so knowledgeable and adorable that you may just want to pinch his cheeks. This is why he is a perfect fit as principal conductor for the Pasadena POPS. In the past few years, his smokin’ hot arrangements and vocals have always made the capacity crowds pleased as punch to saunter down memory lane on a sultry summer night.

But on Saturday June 17, 2017, Feinstein looks to out do himself with a celebration of Broadway’s many golden ages while paying tribute to someone who actually lived one: Liza Minnelli. To honor Liza, Feinstein is bringing on board her Cabaret costar Joel Grey and up-and-comer Alex Getlin, along with surprise special guests including the legendary Liza herself, all backed by an amazing orchestra.

Best of all is the announcement of Pink Martini’s Storm Large. How does one describe this uniquely original chanteuse? It’s as if there was some huge female orgy with the likes of Frances Faye, Rusty Warren, Peggy Lee, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Jett, Amy Winehouse, Bette Midler, a wisecracking film noir gun moll, and a Madam of the friendliest Chicken Ranch on the planet—and they had this love child.

Surrounded by lush vegetation and a seemingly endless expanse of verdant lawn, with a clear, starry sky overhead, the L.A. Arboretum is a perfect setting to enjoy Broadway: The Golden Age. But here’s a major caveat: tickets are going fast; I ain’t kidding, some sections are completely sold out already, so act fast. Opening night is almost here.
