SLIDE INTO THE OLD DISNEYLAND
My first visit to Disneyland was 1964, and I still remember many attractions from that day which will be covered when pop culture humorist and author Charles Phoenix sweeps us away on a fun-filled adventure to the early days of Disneyland when every visit was a day worth dressing for! This live comedy performance, the Retro Disneyland Slide Show, celebrates the original Magic Kingdom in the 1950s & 60s, and will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the AMC Theaters in Downtown Disney.
With his trademark enthusiasm, quick wit, and keen eye for oddball detail, Charles pulls from his vast collection of “found” vintage slides to tell the amazing back-stories and glories of a visit to mid-century Disneyland. Enjoy legendary long-gone attractions such as The House of the Future, Skyway, Skull Rock, Rainbow Caverns, Flying Saucers, and The Carousel of Progress, all populated with guests dressed in fabulous 50’s and 60’s fashions. Come experience all this and much more projected on the big screen in glorious KODACHROME color!
Charles Phoenix’s live shows, videos, and books, explore America’s classic and kitschy pop cultural past and present, and retro-inspired future. Fans enjoy his unique spin and genuine reverence for all manner of Americana, and trust his guides to attractions from coast to coast. This event is part of Dapper Days, which organizes fashionable gatherings attended by over 20,000 well-dressed guests twice a year at the Disney Resorts in LA, Orlando, and Paris. And “Dapper” doesn’t mean just vintage–they welcome all sophisticated fashions from vintage classics to contemporary chic. As part of the Dapper Day Expo this Friday & Saturday, visit the free, 2-day fashion and accessories market at the Disneyland Hotel, which will also host the first Dapper Day Car Show open for public viewing during event hours, 11am-5pm on Sept. 19 (no ticket required). With their theme “Arrive in Style!,” this showcase of exotics and classics, from Model T’s to Lamborghinis, will delight guests of all ages.
