A TAB OF ECSTASY
Following Alberta Ballet’s triumphant tributes to the music of Canadian legend Joni Mitchell and England’s international superstars Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, a “pop-fusion” ballet, features the music of Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, whose melodious music is the inspiration and soundtrack to this beautiful performance. The company will be at three So Cal locations January 24-27, beginning at Royce Hall, UCLA this Saturday.
Artistic Director (since 2002) and Choreographer Jean Grand-Maître’s work showcases a troupe of 30 classically trained dancers tracing the deeply spiritual odyssey of a woman’s life from her first romantic encounter to mature love. With the participation of McLachlan as a consultant during the creation of the show, the dancers have been offered the unique chance to inhabit both the musical and 
spiritual world of this internationally acclaimed artist. Expect romance, tragedy, betrayal, growing old, and celebrating life to be spectacularly portrayed.
Grand-Maître is one of the most successful Canadian choreographers of his generation. After working internationally for 14 years as an independent choreographer and director, he created and staged new works for many of the world’s most prestigious ballet companies, theatre festivals, circus performers, opera companies, stage musicals, television specials, and films.
This well-seasoned and technically trained classical ballet company takes us on a triumphant journey through the use of the soulful ballads that mirror our own struggles, triumphs, and relationships. “Hold On,” “Building a Mystery,” “Good Enough,” “Mary,” “Ice Cream,” the title song and more will lead you down your own personal path of discovery, soul-searching and spirit-finding.
